ROLEX – AIRKING

Watches & Wonders 2022 was billed to be one of the biggest editions yet and it has lived up to expectations so far. The biggest watch manufacturers were on hand to display new novelties and innovation at the exhibition. Here is a quick update of some of the biggest reveals at the event.

CARTIER – COUSSIN COLLECTION

These wonderful looking pieces have taken design inspiration from nothing other than cushions (Coussin translated into French means cushion). These watches actually have flexible casings – when pressure is applied – acting somewhat like a cushion. This tactile case design features diamonds  and precious stones. One model is in white gold and set with 1,011 brilliant cut diamonds on the case and dial This collection is already one of the biggest talking moments from the show.

MONTBLANC -1858 ICED SEA & GMT AUTOMATIC DATE

These tool watches are focused on diving and flying functionalities.  The 1858 Iced Sea Automatic Date has a unique dial which boasts a specific texture that mimics the characteristics of ice found in glaciers and is a beauty to look at.  The 1858 GMT Automatic Date is meant for world travelers, with a GMT window function that turns red around the perimeter of the dial to indicate the GMT time, or second time zone being tracked.

CHOPARD – ALPINE EAGLE FLYING TOURBILLON

Chopard expands its Alpine Eagle collection with this Flying Tourbillon model. The case of this 41 mm timepiece and its integrated bracelet are entirely made from Lucent Steel A223, an exclusive, ultra-resistant and remarkably lustrous alloy. A 6 o’clock opening reveals the tourbillon mechanism that endows the entire creation with its elegantly sophisticated character.

CARTIER – SANTOS DUMONT

The Cartier Santos Dumont has always been intended as an understated watch, but with the new slew of materials added to the edition showcased at the event, one must note Cartier is taking this up a notch. This new piece cased in rose gold, features a beige lacquer bezel that matches the beige dial. It gives the watch an antique feel while making it stand out exclusively in a class of its own.
