Montblanc’s signature leather collection introduces two new capsules to mark the milestone birthday of the Meisterstück writing instrument
Montblanc unveils two dedicated leather capsules as part of its Meisterstück Collection to pay homage to the 100th anniversary of the Meisterstück, an icon of writing culture. Inspired by design details found throughout the fountain pen’s 100-year history, the collection honors the enduring legacy of the Meisterstück in contemporary shapes and classic colors.
The Meisterstück Collection, the epitome of timeless luxury among the Maison’s leather goods collections, acts the ideal canvas for celebrating the milestone anniversary of its namesake writing instrument. The collection’s brilliant leather was chosen by Montblanc Artistic Director Marco Tomasetta due to its resemblance to the precious resin of the Meisterstück itself, while many of the collection’s design details are similarly anchored in the culture of writing: the zip pulls, for example, resemble the shape of the fountain pen’s nib.
The two new anniversary leather capsules delve deeper into the story of this iconic writing instrument, drawing inspiration from its design history and Montblanc’s extensive archives.
The first celebratory capsule features an outline of the Mont Blanc mountain, a design detail often seen in original 1920s Montblanc writing instrument advertisements and as part of the first Meisterstück logo that could be observed on the writing instrument’s early models. The capsule’s sophisticated black palette adorns the Shopping Bags in medium and mini size as well as the Mini Bag, where it finds a harmonious contrast with a clay-colored pocket patch embossed with the mountain outline.
On the small leather goods, consisting of a Wallet (6cc), Card holder (3cc) and Coin case, the mountain outline is embossed directly on the brilliant black leather.
The second capsule introduces a color from Montblanc’s archives into the Meisterstück Collection’s smallleather goods assortment. The capsule features a vibrant coral shade which was featured on some of the Maison’s early writing instruments, including a Meisterstück from the 1920s.
This heritage shade has been reimaged in a contemporary bicolor design for a 3-piece assortment that includes a Wallet (6cc) and Card holders (2cc and 6cc), with black adorning the outside and coral the inside of each piece. The white Montblanc emblem has also been reinterpreted with a coral background.
“Marking a century of our iconic writing instrument’s legacy, the latest Meisterstück leather capsules embody distinctive features of the fountain pen’s design, such as the nib and the precious resin with a smooth, sensual touch,” explains Marco Tomasetta, Montblanc Artistic Director. “The new design details introduced into the collection, such as the coral shade and the outline of the Mont Blanc, seamlessly bridge the gap between our heritage and modernity, infusing contemporary shapes with the timeless essence of the Meisterstück.”
The Meisterstück 100 Years Anniversary Leather Capsules are available from April 2024 at Montblanc boutiques worldwide and online.
